Arrest History in Hunterdon County

Which Hunterdon Arrest Agency?
Do not assume the Sheriff owns every Hunterdon County arrest report. The Sheriff secures the courts and transports prisoners, but a municipal police department normally keeps the report it created. Prosecutor detective records use the prosecutor's own OPRA form. State Police records stay with NJSP. Hunterdon Arrest Booking and Housing
Hunterdon County's custody path has an unusual split. Since January 2020, the county has contracted with Warren County to house all Hunterdon inmates. Hunterdon processes the person through its Division of Corrections and then transfers the person to the Warren County Correctional Center in Belvidere. That is why a person tied to a Hunterdon arrest may not be physically housed in Hunterdon County.

Visitation, calls, deposits, and mail follow the receiving facility's current rules, so verify the current vendor and mailing format before sending anything.
What an Arrest Record Shows
A full arrest record can be broader than the county's public custody report. It may identify the originating agency, report and complaint numbers, arrest date and place, the alleged statute, warrant or probable-cause basis, officer or unit, transport, booking time, fingerprint transaction, holds, and release or detention decision. Public copies can omit protected identifiers, juvenile and victim data, and exempt investigative facts.

Charge labels can change at prosecutor screening or in court. Keep the arresting-agency case number, complaint number, HC number, and later court case number separate. They are not interchangeable.
Hunterdon Arrests Reach NJSP
At intake, officers confirm identity and warrants, inventory property, record the arresting agency and charge, and perform health and security screening. Absence from that PDF does not show that no Hunterdon County arrest happened. The person may have been released, transferred, booked after the report date, or held through another system. Confirm status by phone and use the arresting agency plus court complaint for the historical trail.
Hunterdon Arrest Custody Transfers
After a New Jersey prison sentence, the state custody record moves beyond the county channels. Search by SBI number when possible because it is stronger than a name alone. The NJDOC Offender Search Engine also offers name and demographic filters.
NJDOC may show public custody status, facility or supervision location, offense and sentence entries, sentencing county, and dates available on the current profile. It is not a Hunterdon booking log.
Parole information follows a separate official route. The New Jersey State Parole Board offender information page was refreshed in January 2026 and continues to route custody questions to NJDOC and parole questions to the Board.
That split prevents a county arrest lookup from being mistaken for a current supervision check. Use the agency that owns the present status.

Arrests vs Convictions
An arrest proves that a person was taken into custody or processed under an arrest authority. It does not establish guilt. The arresting agency and booking operation make those records. A conviction is the court's judgment after a guilty plea or trial. Expungement under N.J.S.A. 2C:52, not dismissal alone, is the process that ordinarily directs agencies and repositories to isolate qualifying arrest and court records.
