Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search tool goes directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. We do not retain or log the search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or direct message may be kept so we can answer and maintain the exchange. It stays within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers and analytics tools may receive basic technical and usage details:
- Your device’s IP address
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring website, when available
- The date and time of each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure traffic, popular pages, and where a visit ends. Analytics services combine that usage information. A browser can block cookies, though some functions may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
Collected information supports the operation and upkeep of the website.
- Finding and correcting technical faults
- Keeping pages available and responsive
- Sending a submitted search to the selected provider
- Measuring which material visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Hunterdon County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell personal criminal-record databases. It offers general directions to records held by local police, New Jersey Courts, the New Jersey State Police State Bureau of Identification, corrections agencies, and the New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. A query submitted there is governed by that provider’s privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices, not just this policy. Review the provider’s terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Hunterdon County offices, New Jersey court and agency portals, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination’s privacy policy controls the visit. Read it before supplying personal details.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not control that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be received by:
- A search provider processing a query you submit
- Analytics services measuring visits and site performance
- Advertising networks placing ads on the pages
- A government body when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used for information in our control. No online service can promise total security, so a breach or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly gather personal information from anyone under 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be deleted after a valid request.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may provide rights over personal data. New Jersey government records are separately governed by the Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq., while state criminal-history dissemination is limited by N.J.S.A. 53:1-20.6 and related provisions. Those laws do not make this private website a government custodian. Depending on applicable law, you may request:
- A copy of personal information we hold about you
- Correction of inaccurate information
- Deletion of information subject to lawful retention duties
- An opt-out from certain forms of processing
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may change as practices or legal duties change. Any revised version will appear here with a new effective date.
